To produce a wide range of solid, liquid, and gaseous material, the chemical industry utilizes processes such as chemical reactions on refining. These products can be employed to manufacture other items, or can be utilized directly by consumers. Pressure safety valves and rupture discs shield pressure vessels and piping systems from excessive internal pressure. Periodic testing and adjustment of this equipment is crucial to maintain overall safety. Thermocouple and RTD sensors are utilized throughout plants in a range of sizes and lengths due to modernization. It would not be unusual to see hundreds of sensors in a single plant. Depending on accuracy class, each of these sensors has to be calibrated once or more a year.

In the past, sensors were calibrated in large heating ovens, or oil baths, but because of limited temperature ranges, complicated and slow testing procedures, and hazardous liquids, dry-block calibrators are replacing them with quick, clean, accurate instruments. The JOFRA line of dry-block calibrators provides a range of temperature calibration equipment to calibrate these sensors.

In order to calculate flow, differential and static and pressures, along with temperature, are commonly measured by using transmitters and flow computers. Calibration and validation is required to confirm their accuracy.

The nVision lets a user complete pressure calibration and validation of a differential transmitter, the temperature calibrators calibrate the temperature component, and the ASC-400 and CSC201 simulate the signal to the flow computer.

Electronic sensors, valves, pressure and temperature transmitters, pressure gauges, transducers, regulators, and pressure and temperature switches must be checked and calibrated periodically. The nVision provides a number of modules and special test modes for fast, simple verification.

Record temperature, pressure, current, and voltage at up to 10 readings per second by using the nVision. It has a battery-optimizing, Ultra Low Power (ULP) mode, which enables the user to take an entire year of continuous recordings on one set of batteries.

In order to characterize the pump the nVision monitors inlet and outlet pressures and records from two pressure sensors, as fast as 10 times per second, and up to 15,000 psi.

Pressure systems are tested for their strength and leaks by pressurizing a liquid, and observing whether there is a pressure loss. Pressure and temperature can be recorded simultaneously by using the nVision. Both the XP2i and nVision models record the pressure test and produce a digital record.

The nVision can measure and record differential pressure at high static pressure directly across a filter. By estimating a filter's relative wear and age using this method, a customer can save money by only replacing filters when needed.

Accurate pressure and temperature measurement of each storage vessel is required for fuel and water holding tanks to generate a record of their inventory. The nVision provides a fast and easy way to record accurate pressure measurements and the RTC measures and calibrates temperature.

The nVision provides the accuracy of a deadweight tester in a far lighter and more portable package. It is also unaffected by gravity or temperature, needs no special training, and is cheaper to calibrate.

Various places in the chemicals and plastics industries require direct measurement of pressure. This could involve completed periodic checks or permanently mounting an instrument. Ametek Calibrations safe instrumentation gives the flexibility and accuracy to measure pressure with confidence.

A number of applications, for example calibrating absolute pressure gauges, will require the reference gauge to read directly in barometric pressure. The nVision, with the optional barometric reference will show pressure in the absolute scale. It is achievable to toggle between gauge and absolute pressure on the same device.

Test equipment and portable calibrators require periodic checks and calibration. Having local standards on site for calibration of these instruments provides savings in cost and downtime of instruments: calibrate the field instruments locally and then only send the standard in for regular calibration. The HPC40 Series and nVision are light-weight, small, instruments that have the accuracy needed to calibrate pressure in the field or in a lab.

The RTC and PTC series are excellent standards for the verification and calibration of handheld thermometers. The DTI Series with an STS may be used as high accuracy temperature references. The AMC-910 offers capabilities for local calibration of electrical signals and with the APM CPF and an STS probe may be used for pressure and temperature calibration.

There is no better pressure standard than a deadweight tester for calibrating pressure instruments and the deadweight testers from Ametek Calibration are designed to be highly accurate but durable.
