Technology infrastructure company Signal Infrastructure Group (SIG) has been retained by Northern California Public Broadcasting’s KQED San Francisco to perform a turn-key project replacing its existing ch. 30 high-power transmitter at Sutro Tower in San Francisco with a new ATSC 3.0-ready model from GatesAir. SIG is handling all the designing, specifying, sourcing, managing, installing and commissioning of the new transmitter.

SIG builds and operates broadcast transmission and software infrastructure to expand access to content and information in communities across the country. It has a deep bench of engineering experience with similar projects and knowledge of the Sutro Tower site.

Jim Stenberg, SIG’s EVP of infrastructure, said: “We are extremely excited and humbled that KQED has trusted us to help them with this installation and we look forward to delivering their desired goals and more.”
